SMOKEY DAYS
AQI 500+
Smoke has been in the air for most of July and August but it has lingered around 150 AQI and under. These last few days it has reached 400 and up. Anything above 300 seems to make a much bigger impact on us. Being in a house with A/C is extremely helpful . . . but once the smoke gets this bad it starts to seep into the house through any route it can find. We taped up door jams and weak spots in window casings but the downstairs still smells like smoke.
SLEEP TRAINING PREVAILS
It was only the third day of sleep training when this smoke started rolling in and the door near Tatum’s room let’s in a tonnn of smoke. Hanging out in there is one thing . . breathing it in while sleeping for 10 hours feels like too much. We decided to move her into our closet (lol). Jordan blocked the window in the closet with broken down Costco bulk beans and tomato boxes. We found an old trifold room divider thing left from the klees family and used it to attempt to block out the light from the closet entrance. We also put the baby monitor in there - the only way it works is if the power cord stretches like a trip wire ankle high across the closet walkway ha so it’s a bit precarious in the dark. We have to be mindful of grabbing clothes for bed or work before she goes to sleep . . But it’s working!
THE DOGS
The dogs haven’t been able to get mich exercise since it has been this smokey. We try to get them out as much as we can but when it’s this bad there isnt much we can do with them. Luckily they haven’t been acting up too much. Nora has been extra spazzy which is to be expected.
