Tatum’s first plane ride!

The time came for Tatum’s first plane ride. We were obviously nervous about how the flights would go.

We had heard that nursing while taking off and landing is important to help eqaulize babies ears so we were intentional about making sure Tatum didn’t eat too much during the layover. We started watching Baby Driver on the plane together sharing headphones like we always do while Tatum was nursing. I was super into the movie and didn’t look over at Jordan for about 30-40 mins during the movie. When I finally looked over I saw Tatum had stopped nursing and both her and Jordan had fallen asleep. Apprently they both fell asleep before Tatum was completely done because jordans right boob was completely out and exposed to the entire plane. When I woke her up she almost peed her pants in laughter. This moment is a perfect example of readiness to be silly, and playful, and not take things too seriously.

DAY ONE

Good Morning

Day one started out coffee and hopes for a calm and confidence inspiring breakfast. I had a breathwork session I was excited about so I borrowed the second upstairs room from my dad and did the breathwork from 8am-9am. I went on a walk after to grab some food and link up with everyone. I quickly stumbled upon the whole family sitting down for a breakfast.

BEACH TIME

Jordan Tatum my Dad and I walked down to the beach from the breakfast spot and found our way back to the house. We discovered a perefect route to the beace less than a block away from our house. Everyone got ready for a day at the beach and we packed up a cooler. The pile of stuff going down to the beach was enormous, but in florida style we all filled piled on as much stuff as we could to ourselves and made our way to the beach in a cumbersome shuffle.

The beach was steep and the tide was strong but the water was beautiful. The was a constant barrage of vendors trying to sell us things. Some food or candy, and others were selling huge blankets or hats. I felt totally bored sitting there so I dug a staircase into the sand. The babies conked out hard on the beach towels. Luckily in our one million things brought to the beach we had 2 large beach umbrellas the provided much-needed shade for the kiddos.

After the beach and hanging by the pool Jordan, Tatum and I left early to go on a walk before dinner. Jordan had texted Dobbs for some recommendations so we had a dinner spot already in mind. This short little walk about was a highlight of the trip for me. It felt so exciting and adventurous. The streets were colorful and full of music. We were speaking Spanish and having fun. We were doing all of this with a BABY KID! I felt so inspired and got a sense of how cool life is going to be as parents. It was HOT so we were dripping water on Tatum. Jordan spotted a vendor with Helado so we stopped. I snapped one of my favorite pictures of the trip of her eating it. It looked so refreshing (even though in retrospect it was likely the cause of a later epic bathroom emergency for Jord lol).

DAY TWO

I slept super well the second night. When I was slowly waking up I got excited to go on a walk about and get a coffee. I opened my eyes to find Tatum smiling a huge smile. She was laying between me and jordan and seemed to get permision to move and try to bite my nose as soon as we made eye contact. This is the first time Tatum waking up when I do ever happened. So Tatum joined me for my walk about and we had a blast! We started by getting a coffee at a hip (but a little too Americanized) place with cool catus lining the walls just down the street. Then we went all over. I started to take pictures of Tatum and what she was looking at from her perspective in the baby carrier.

Once we got back my mom and dad volunteered to go grocery shopping. Everyone else went on a walk to go get lunch. We took a steeo bumpy hill and kenzie decided to take a stroller. It was a bit brutal but she survived. Tatum and I showed everyone some spot we found earlier including a really cool bright staircase. We attempted another Dobbs food rec but ended up confusing his place for a different one. The tacos were awesome! I dropped my camera pretty hard getting up to go pay the bill. I couldn’t rember how to say “tip” as in . . “does this include the tip”. Ellie said she googled it right as I was walking up to talk to the waiter. She said, “It’s consejo”. Wellll . . turns out consejo means suggestion - so our waiter was pretty confused when I asked if the bill included a suggestion. haha
