Letter to Huck (draft)
Hey Huck,
Welcome to the family! You entered at a pretty wild time and I’m glad you’re here. I did my best to let Jordan and Cory know I supported their decision after three weeks of their indecision. I think they got the message.
My passing came on suddenly and It’s been a hard adjustment for everyone. I’m happy to pass the boton to you - there’s a few things a wanted to share.
Firstly, youre a lucky pup.
Tatum
Oh tatum. She is a wild one. She gets excited just like us pups! Every once and a while she a little too excited and squezes too hard or pinches. it’s ok to let her know when she crossed the line, just dont take it personally. She’ll like to read to you. Her piles of books can get pretty high and most times she spends more time making her piles than she does reading, but try to stick around for it all even if you get the urge to move. Moments like this with her are pretty special. Trust me, its worth it.
Another thing tatum will likely do is cover you in hand towels from through out the house. When she first did it to me I tried to take them off everytime she put one on, but then I started letting them pile up. You do you, for me it got to be pretty fun to have her follow me around the house and continue the pile until she got them all then i shake them all of.
Jordan
Jordan likes her sleep! She has been a sleeper inner since we met. She especially likes to sleep in now because she works really hard to make sure the babies are taken care of through out the night. Enjoy your morning and just know that the coziest spot in the house awaits once your done with breakfast and playing. Her legs make for a really great pillow too.
Cory
Where it all began. Cory’s love for you will be endless - I know it was for me. He can get a bit spazy, mostly in the mornings when he is late (everyday) but don’t worry if he isn’t paying attention to you, he’ll always make a point to slow down and let you know you’re a good boy, even if he already started to drive down the driveway and realizes he didn’t say by to you and the family.
Cory is a big fan of adventuring. He took me to my favorite places. Cory and jordan together on adventure with you will make for some of the best times you’ll have I promise!
Sometimes on adventures in the backyard cory’s mind will float off or he’ll jump on his phone. My strategy was to bark at him, a lot. That usually got him back to the present moment. The present moment is what he is after all the time, so I say give barking a try.
Nora
Nora may be rough around the edges and pretty bossy but overtime I learned that is a great friend. She has a relentless drive to protect so a lot of the time she’ll be on patrol in the yard or barking. She also will likely push you out of the way to get out of the door first or growl at you if shes eating. Dont let that distract you from her true feelings. You’re a part of her pack now! As she warms up to you she’ll want to play more and more. Her sincerity in her eyes and her gentleness make up for her tough exterior. Do me a favor and make sure you leave space for her to get attention too, she deserves it. Everyonce and while if she’s sleeping on the bed, just let her lay there and find a spot on the ground. There will be plenty of times to cuddle up.
